FAQ

What is the Twin Cities “Community of Communities?”

We are a collective of Christian intentional communities (an intentional community is a residential community with shared commitments and practices) located throughout the Twin Cities (and Greater Minnesota).

What sorts of communities are members?

We are made up of older and newer communities from a diversity of Christian backgrounds (monastics, mendicants, Anabaptist intentional communities, urban outreach houses, residential ministry programs, etc.). Some of our communities have existed for decades, others have only just begun.

What do you hope to accomplish through networking different Christian intentional communities?

  • We hope to learn from one another. We believe that God gives unique gifts to various communities for the benefit of the larger Body of Christ. By learning from one another, we can become more like Christ.
  • Many of our communities have shared convictions. By networking, we can discover opportunities for common actions and joint events.
  • We believe that the Spirit is nurturing new intentional communities. It is our desire to create a place where new communities can learn from established communities.

Who can join?

An invitation is extended to any group that meets the following criteria:

  1. The group is Christ-centered.
  2. The group embraces some form of intentional community.
  3. The group is willing to learn from other communities from other traditions.

At this time, we are not extending an invitation to individuals that are not affiliated with an intentional Christianity community. In the future, we are hoping to create opportunities for folks interested in community. In the meantime, please feel free to contact communities directly for more information.
