Trautmann Household

Name of community:: Unnamed

Tradition(s):: My wife and I were trained and lived at Bethany Fellowship in Bloomington, MN (http://www.bethanyinternational.org/about-us/history). We were residents and members of this communal missionary fellowship for seven years (1974-1981).

Community info:: Our current extended household exists to strengthen its members in Christian living– living “in the light”, serving one another and promoting service to the neighborhood.

The ultimate vision of this long-standing “household of faith” is the formation of a local Christian co-housing fellowship, where communal life, entrepreneural business and world missions are promoted.

Description of community life:: Life together in our small extended household is not organizational; it is organic- family (Church). We attempt to practice the presence of Christ in daily life. As “iron sharpens iron”, we rely on typical household activities to solicit “teachable moments” for growth.

Some members attend common weekly worship services together, but this is not required.

Household maintenance responsibilities are shared and common activities such as meals and celebration events are central to community life.

“Family Meetings” are the prerogative of all household members, and can be requested at any time. All members are required to participate in such meetings, where conflict resolution is often pursued and relationships are strengthened.

Date formed:: An extended household lifestyle has been practice by my wife and I for 50% of our 32 years of marriage.

Regular events:: Currently no regular events are scheduled. (The Facebook organization, “Got Community?” has held several monthly meetings this year.)

All interested parties are most heartily welcomed at our dinner table!
